Director of Project Management
Mrs. Sanders is the Director, Project Management at East West Protection, LLC. The company specializes in public health and medical preparedness, detection, response, and command and control systems for CBRN threats and other disasters in support of local, national, and international organizations in both the public and private sectors.
Mrs. Sanders served 26 years as a uniformed officer in the U.S. Public Health Service as a Registered Dietitian (RD) retiring at the rank of CAPT (06). Mrs. Sanders was initially commissioned as an RD at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) where she specialized in Pediatric HIV/AIDs and Infectious Diseases. She ensured proper growth and development despite terminal illnesses and conducted supportive research with Primary Investigators. After 10-years she transitioned to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) when she administered grant programs that specialized in Health Career Opportunities for Minority Populations (HCOP). She then transitioned into the Ryan White AIDS Program where she monitored and advised on grant activities for cities and states with the highest incidence and prevalence of AIDS infections. Her highest achievement was being selected to run the Hospital Preparedness Program after the attacks of 9-11. In this position, Mrs. Sanders directed the development of the first set of preparedness and response capabilities for the Nation’s health systems.
As Director, Project Management for EWP Mrs. Sanders builds relationships and linkages with Federal agencies; State and local governments; public health agencies; healthcare systems, and individual facilities to achieve common goals in emergency preparedness and response; directs and coordinates identification of emergency management program vulnerabilities formulating corrective actions; analyzes and advises on emergency management standards, regulations, training, and procedures to identify, minimize or eliminate hazards and threats; evaluates emergency management processes, plans, and procedures; and manage projects and programs. She has served as contract coordinator and subject matter expert on several engagements focusing on Healthcare Facility Compliance with CMS Emergency Management Standards; Crisis Standards of Care in the COVID-19 Pandemic; Alternate Care Sites (COVID-19); Patient Movement and Logistics (Supply Chain) Management in the State of Alaska.
Mrs. Sanders is skilled in supervising, leading, developing, and mentoring diverse cross-functional staffs. Her experience in writing and analyzing complex policy, plans, and detailed reports on program status and effectiveness served her well in her 26-year Federal career. Throughout her career Mrs. Sanders managed several grant programs and contracts ranging in scope and responsibilities from $500M – $4B.
